Oxygen

Brine shrimp need oxygen to survive.  One of the problems when keeping brine shrimp in a tank is the carbon dioxide they produce.

Carbon dioxide dissolves more readily into the water than oxygen.  When it does so it forms carbonate acid.  This is a weak acid but the change in pH levels will kill brine shrimp.
